Flat-pack furniture saves money, but not time. A big wardrobe takes an experienced fitter two to three hours, and someone less experienced easily the whole afternoon and a few frayed nerves.
That is why more and more people book assembly. Here is what you normally pay, how prices are worked out and what to check so the furniture holds and nothing is missing.
Furniture assembly prices
Fitters charge either an hourly rate or a fixed price per piece. A fixed price applies to ordinary pieces with no adjustments. If furniture has to be shortened, drilled into a wall or fitted to an unusual space, that is charged on top.
| Piece of furniture | Typical assembly price (2026) |
|---|---|
| Hourly rate | 400–700 Kč/h |
| Chest of drawers or bedside table | 300–800 Kč |
| Bed without storage | 500–1,000 Kč |
| Wardrobe up to 2 m | 800–1,500 Kč |
| Large wardrobe with sliding doors | 1,500–3,000 Kč |
| Kitchen units | 1,000–2,000 Kč per running metre |
| Fixing to the wall | 100–250 Kč each |
Typical market ranges in 2026. They vary by city and job and are for orientation only, not SkillNav prices.
What affects the price
- Complexity: a wardrobe with sliding doors and interior fittings takes longer than a simple chest of drawers.
- The wall: fixing into a panel (prefab) wall or concrete is more work than into brick or plasterboard.
- Floor and carrying: if the fitter carries boxes from the car to the fourth floor, that counts too.
- Custom adjustments: shortening, cutting openings for pipes or sockets.
- Transport and taking away packaging: usually charged separately.
Why fixing to the wall matters
Tall wardrobes, shelving units and chests of drawers need to be fixed to the wall, especially in a home with small children who like to climb on drawers. Manufacturers include a fixing kit with the furniture, but it does not always suit your type of wall.
A good fitter asks what the wall is made of and brings the right wall plugs. If they do not ask, ask them yourself.
How to bring the cost down
Have the furniture at home and the boxes in the room where it will be built. A cleared room and free access to the wall save time. If you are buying several pieces, have them assembled in one visit, so you pay for the trip only once.
Check that all the boxes are complete. If the fitter only finds a missing part on site, they have to come again, and that costs something.
What to agree beforehand
- Which pieces are being assembled, and whether it is a fixed price or an hourly rate.
- Whether fixing to the wall and taking away packaging are included.
- What tools the fitter will bring and what you should have ready.
- What happens if a part is missing or damaged.
